How to find the same scene across multiple takes
When you have multiple takes of the same setup - or the same subject filmed across different sessions - tracking down every instance manually is slow. Lossless Video Cutter lets you use a frame from take one as the reference to automatically locate all matching takes in the same file or across a playlist.

Two approaches depending on your footage
Visual similarity - same framing/look
Use Find Similar Looks when takes share the same camera position, lighting, or background. The scan finds frames that visually resemble your reference.
Face recognition - same person
Use Find Face when you want all takes featuring a specific person, regardless of framing changes between takes.
Step-by-step: using visual similarity across takes
- Add all takes to the playlist. Use Window → Playlist and drag all your take files in.
- Open the first take and navigate to a representative frame of the scene setup.
- Save that frame as an image using the camera button in the toolbar - Save Frame As…
- Open each subsequent take and run Find Similar Looks → Choose Image, pointing to the saved reference frame.
- Review segments in each take and export the best one, or export all takes' matched segments as separate files to compare later.
Tips for multi-camera shoots
- For multi-camera setups where framing differs between cameras, face recognition is usually more reliable than visual similarity.
- Run both scans and combine their results: face recognition finds the person; visual similarity narrows down to the preferred angle.
- Use the playlist to keep all takes organised and switch between them quickly without re-importing.
